Nicolas Choquette-Levy in the Levin Lab receives 2020 Walbridge Fund Graduate Award

Tuesday, Jun 16, 2020

The Walbridge Fund is administered by PEI, and “provides research funding to Princeton University graduate students pursuing innovative research on climate science, energy solutions, environmental policy or, more broadly, on other environmental topics.”

Nicolas submitted a proposal to fund a research project on surveying smallholder farmers' perceptions of climate risks, and how they obtain information on climate adaptation strategies. There isn't a good understanding yet (at least in academia) of where farmers get information on climate risks to their livelihoods, how much they rely on their neighbors for information on potential adaptation strategies, and the structure of their social networks.  Pending the lifting of travel restrictions, he hopes to use the funding to do a survey on these kinds of questions in Nepal over the coming year.
