Festschrift honoring Daniel Rubenstein's 43 years of service in EEB

A festschrift in honor of Daniel I. Rubenstein’s 43 years of service in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology was held on October 2-3, 2023 at Princeton University.  EEB’s chair Jonathan Levine introduced the event, highlighting Dan’s career at Princeton and the Mpala Research Centre in Kenya, his scholarly work on decision making in animals, and his contributions to the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, which he chaired for 23 years.  Presentations and speeches were given by President Christopher Eisgruber as well as former Presidents Harold Shapiro and Shirley Tilghman; University administrators; former Dean of the Faculty David Dobkin; former and current graduate students and postdoctoral research associates; colleagues, family, and friends, with two musical interludes, one  performed by an EEB ensemble that included Professor Christina Riehl, postdoctoral researcher associates Guillaume Falmagne and Joshua LaPergola, and graduate students Ari Freedman and Princeton Vaughn, and the other by the a capella group Koleinu.  Dan’s contributions as a scholar, mentor, administrator and leader in international societies, conservation organizations and in building up the Mpala Research Center and Princeton in Africa were on display throughout.  He was appreciated for his brilliance, dedication and humanity.
